Challenged with designing a vertical farm in the heart of Washington, D.C. our team created a mobile market system and agricultural center aimed toward providing equitable food and work supply within the Ward 7 food desert. In this project I completed elements from brainstorming, conceptual design, site analysis, and renderings of growing systems.
The site is located at East Capital Urban Farm and represents the culture of the community, with multiple initiatives in community engagement. In July 2022 I presented the project at Wageningen University in the Netherlands and defended our proposal in the ‘Dragons Den’ along with two team members, ensuring us a place among the top three finalists.
As a continued effort in awareness for sustainable urban design I presented this project again for the residents of Ward 7 in Washington, D.C. in May of 2023.
