During the Fall of 2023 I participated in the latest installment of Test Plot, an initiative in experimental restoration gardens and community land care. With collaboration of my classmates, I helped design and install a native plant garden on Catalina Island consisting of nearly 200 plants. Our team worked closely with the staff at the Wrigley Marine Center and the Catalina Island Conservancy in order to ensure that the garden fostered a habitat for native and endemic species while also working to slow down water from the ravine that was affecting marine life nearby.
After three months of planning, our team installed the garden and three rock check dams with the help of volunteers. The garden serves as a precedent as well as a research site for water quality and habitat studies on the island.

In April of 2024 our team was awarded as an honoree by the Pando Days ‘23 competition and the
County of Los Angeles for the project’s contribution to the benefit of all the residents of LA County.
